When I was younger, I had about a 36 inch vertical leap. I was 5'9" (7'3" reach) and was able to grab the basketball rim with two hands after I warmed up. But I was never able to dunk a regulation-size rim. I could not jump that high with the ball in my hands. I need the arm motion swinging from the back like a volleyball player. Did anyone see one of the highlights in the Arizona game on saturday? A 5'9" player cough an alley-oop with 2 hands with a semi-windmill dunk... it was nice!

I use to be able to windmill a tennis ball, grab the rim on one side and swing to dunk on the other and also dunk a miniature basketball and volleyball. But I could not dunk a regular-sized basketball or a women's ball.

swinging the arms and ur body makes up about 10%, when u hold a bball its hard to have the same swing - so its makes it much harder to jump

Back in junior high (I was about 5'2). I could dunk a basketball on a regular sized basket from where the semi circle is. Then I busted my ankle rappeling in the army and lost all that.

I knew guys 5'10" in high school who could dunk. But, 5'7"? Now that's really a rare breed...
