I am 5'10" and 160 lbs. I used to be able to dunk with one hand when I was at college. But I was 40 lbs lighter, real skinny and athletic at that time. I could long jump 23 ft and do 100-meter in 11 sec. I guess I am getting older and too much fast food is killing me. Last time I went to the gym I found I could still touch the rim (after getting a good warm up) but no way I can dunk it any more.

I'm 5'9" (175cm) with a 7'3" reach and 175 pounds. When I was younger, I was able to dunk tennis balls and the little miniature basketballs. I was able to grab the rims with two hands front and backward when I was warmed up. I had about a 36" vertical leap without the ball. But, when I hold the ball I can not get up that high. I am a two-foot leaper, like Dominique Wilkins and I need to swing my arms behind me like a volleyball player. I can not jump as high now since I hurt my back. I can still occasionally hit the rim. But, it takes much more effort and warmups.

You're 5'9" and you've got a 7'3" REACH??????

Dude you might have made a typo there... With arms that long you'd look like a gorilla....

In my prime I was plenty quick and got lotza hang time, but could only touch the rim... so no dunking - unless we're talking about dunking donuts; I'll take all of y'all to school on that one.

I have no hope to dunk in real life~~
Because I am so short that I can just touch the net of the rim!!

However, I can dunk like Yao when I am dreaming!!!!
Haha~~

u don't really have to be able to dunk.

u just have to be able to stay in the air longer than the other guy while u're driving to the hoop.

and also have a accurate off the dribble jump shot.

that's all the ammo u really need.

yer, that true.
Even most of the nba'ers dont dunk more than once a game.

Also important is being able to adjust ur shot in the air - especailly to get a foul call. Often this involves contorting the body in a funky way to avoid the swat, often the shot that happens is very technically 'unorthodox'.
