The "ch1nky eyes" have different meaning to different Chinese. I'm Asian American had that done to my face and it's very offensive. However, some mainland Chinese haven't witnessed this bigotry first hand and might find the gesture "cute".
Racism is a very personal thing. People that can't empathize with victims of racism are just ignorant.
As you can see, both Spanish and Chinese have people that's ignorant. They need to be educated. |

more like they dont care.
do you think any African man could in any circumstances find it cute if a Spanish dude threw a banana at him and told him to have lunch? it's not a question of comprehension. it's obvious that it's meant to be an insult.
but the average mainland chinese dude living his life... do you think he gives a ****** if some asian american kid named Malorkayel gets called a ch1nk in the US? that's the last thing on his mind, he cant empathize with you any more than some Jewish dude can... because neither of them are ever going to be in a situation where that's going to happen to them.
he's too busy worrying about "important" things like how much glory winning a gold medal in co-ed 50 meter underwater blindfold shooting or sending a man to the moon 40 years after the US is going to be for china
the ***** backwards thing is China is so sure that random things no one really cares about like a few crazies protesting their torch bearers are grave insults, meanwhile things that are meant to degrade or dehumanize Chinese as a people are ignored.
the main thing that allows the western public to buy into the bias the media perpetuates versus China is the idea that Chinese people themselves are somehow less human or concerned with morality than the West. it's easy to accuse China of cheating or human rights violations when they seem like soulless machines.
if the entire thrust of Western paternalism towards China in terms of pollution, human rights, cheating, tibet, is that "these people have no morals we need to teach them" how much moral ammunition is it for them when Chinese dont even have the moral authority to stand up versus racism DIRECTED AT THEM?
Mainland Chinese might in fact not give a ****** about anti-asian racism for their brothers in the West, and in fact might even take the position that they're being the "bigger men." but to the West, it simply looks like racism doesn't bother them. If discrimination based on race doesn't bother them... how easy it is then for China opponents to take the leap to discrimination/oppression of ethnicities (tibet) not bothering them or oppression of minorities or minority opinion (political dissent/human rights)?
For some reason the Chinese government seems to actively discourage any mention of racism (probably because even admitting to racism is seen as "weakness"). but the fact is any political attacks on China would have much less traction if the corresponding social impression wasn't so negative. Look at Israel and South Africa. Americans generally have a very positive impression of Israelis and very poor impression of South Africa. They developed their nukes in a joint program but only South Africa was perceived as "dangerous" for having it by the American public... Israel has it "for defense." Even if you're looking at it politically it's very stupid for the Chinese government to not address issues of racism and perception. |

This happen years ago when I was in high school. A black kid pulled his eyes back in front of my face and said some mocking ching chong crap, I punched him so hard, he got knocked out cold. I got suspended, so did he. When I went back to school after my 3 days suspension, all my Asian gangsta friends jumped that same black guy at his house.
Why did we do it? We sent a message to everyone, you mess with an Asian, you will suffer the consequences we dish out. We're no joke, we're hardcore!
Now let's burn the Spain flag and pee on it! Everyone, let's do it because we think it's cute and funny! |

Set up a printer near the toilet. Save yourself some time. |

The members of YMM from China should really do us all a favor and
start making this more of a fuss in Chinese message boards.
If Chinese in China really understood that making slanty eyes is not an endearing and cute gesture than that is half the battle.
Making slanty eyes is a gesture looking down on the entire Asian race.
Yes, where are all the YMM members from China at? Come on brothers, if you don't stand up and create a noise in China than this will all disappear just like what the Spanish would like. |

UNfortunately most of us cant read/write Chinese, which makes this very difficult to spread the word to mainland Chinese. |
