Or maybe just follow the old game mantra of ball. Play tough, play with heart, but respect your opponents and respect the game. If you instigate or take exception to opponents' actions, this is the type of stuff that happens regardless. If you seriously think brawls or game conflicts are isolated to China, and I hope you dont; you need to get a reality check and see the world a lil more.

Part of the problem is that Americans are taught to be extra rough on Asian Ballers. Every scouting report says to hard foul and be physical vs Chinese players.
In other words, if you play dirty vs Chinese they give up instead of causing an incident.
An effective way to stop bullying is to give the bully a black eye. A few fights is a good thing.

it's two things. first of all black players assume asian ballplayers are soft. Chris Rock has a bit in his old routine that talks about that line, that if you cross you know the other man is going to punch you in the face. black guys through ignorance/racism/lack of perceptive acuity either think there's no line to cross on an asian dude or are clueless where that line is. you see that a lot in sports, even in supposedly cordial situations like rec leagues or "soft sports" where black or white dudes play aggressively on an asian or are especially mouthy. remember this kid?

second, that particular racism is actually institutionalized. not only towards asians but on white players like Dirk and they're literally taught to "play physical" to take them out of their game.
dealing with that is part of learning how to play sports. I mean is fighting on the court a good way of dealing with it? No. To be a competent player (or really a man at all in the US) one of the first things you have to learn is how to send a message in-game early on so that when you're challenged they understand there's that line.
part of the problem here is that Chinese guys have no clue how to draw that line. I've seen this in the real world with older Asian men... they sit there in a confrontation or negotiation stone faced taking crap repeatedly then finally blow up with righteous fury in the end, and everyone is there looking at him like the media is looking at the Chinese players: like they're the ones who broke decorum or overreacted.
in the real world though... who do black players fight like 99% of the time with? yeah... other black players. like Rick James... some of these black guys are line steppers. sometimes the only way to send a message is to bust a kid in the mouth. a lot of whites and asian just dont want to go there... that's why even in the NBA you have guys like Garnett or Jordan who'll feel like they can punch a white player with impunity.
one thing is for sure, those Georgetown kids for the rest of their lives will think twice before manhandling Chinese ballplayers. in all though, the Chinese players involved in this incident are the ones most harmed.

But let's say it is. This is frankly why you don't want to invite Black people en masse into your society. Senseless mob violence simply becomes inevitable as soon as they reach a tipping point in numbers (which doesn't take very long).. They just tend to have zero respect for themselves, much less for their host society - and just tear everything down to shreds..
China needs to wise up and think twice about which Black ballers they allow to play in their country.

btw, Chris Rock is just one comedian, his comments are meant to be funny---not gospel as you would have people to believe.
