So it's the annual Nike Hoop Summit.
This year, 2012 Nike Hoop Summit will be held on Saturday, April 7 (7 p.m. PDT tipoff) at the Rose Garden, in Portland, Oregon.
And they have just announced the roster for the World Select Team, and Wang Zhelin is amongst them.
Wang Zhelin is currently in Beijing for the closed door training with the national team.
But he had already applied for the US visa, and will take a 10-day leave of absence and will fly to USA April 1 to allow time for adjusting to jet-lag and strength and conditioning.
Let's wait and see his performance at this premier annual basketball game featuring many of the world's leading basketball players aged 19-years-old or younger.

Wang Zhelin had left China for USA.
He arrived Portland on April 1.
In order to get over the jetlag, Wang Zhelin just kept working out in his hotel room.
And yesterday (April 2), the World Select Team had their first team practice under head coach Roy Rana. There were 1 to 1 and 3 to 3 scrimmages in the morning for the players to get familiar with each other, and then another session in the afternoon.

The initial measurement of the World Select Team is published.....
Wang Zhelin is the TALLEST AND HEAVIEST player on the World Select Team !!! 7 feet (w/shoes) and 251 pounds.

And after training, the World Select Team took snacks/pizza and watched the NCAA Final between Kentucky and Kansas.

And the World Select Team trained at the Bo Jackson Building at the Nike World Headquarter in Beaverton, Oregon yesterday morning (April 3), and then listened to some of Nike Plus Basketball presentations and toured the Michael Jordan Building, headquarters of Jordan Brand.

It's MORONIC for you to bring in Jeremy Lin and Chen Jianghua into the discussion about Wang Zhelin. 
Wang Zhelin is not speedy; he is not very agile; he is not very skillful; in fact he is not very good in ball handling.
Yeah he is tall, and much heavier than lads in his age group, also with strong base and thick legs, unafraid of physical contact, and has some very primitive footworks of a traditional back-to-basket centre.
But to compare him to Yao Ming, Wang Zhizhi and Mengke Bateer is PREMATURE AND LAUGHABLE. Wang Zhelin has petty RAW skills, poor ball handling and has ZERO face-to-basket skills; all he relies on are either layups or point blank dunks; he has yet to develop some mid range jumpers, an ability that Yao Ming and Wang Zhizhi had mastered and excelled at 17 to 18 years old already. |

Wang Zhelin was able to outplay his age group in international competitions. How did Yao Ming and Wang zhizhi master so much skills at young age? Yao Ming should provide some tips to Wang Zhelin, rather than traveling around and achieving little. |

A few more photos of Wang Zhelin in the team practice/scrimmage at Portland TrailBlazers' facilty on April 2.
It seemed one of the handicaps as usual for all the Chinese players is their English communication skills. Wang Zhelin is once again the only player on the World Select Team that requires an interpretor.
