Why are gangs allowed to exist?

Do gangs exist in Singapore? Triads?

How hard would it be to exterminate gangs? Would it require a totalitarian state? Is that the price for getting rid of gangs?

Do gangs exist in mainland China? Triads? Or is that just in Hong Kong?

If one gang member killed another gang member in the forest, but no non-gang member was there to witness it, would the gunshots make a sound?

Submit your reports here and I'll grade them.

OF COURSE !!!!! Gangs are EVERYWHERE. Rolling Eyes

And in China, alot of the criminals work in small, loosely-knit gangs that are involved in armed robbery, racketeering, smuggling, narcotics trafficking, prostitution, gambling and even contract murder.

And MOST HORRIBLE AND TROUBLESOME is alot of the gangs/triads have close relations with the police and are even run by the police. Numerous incidents/cases were busted in the past, and there was this famous case back in 2007; 10 members of a police-run gang in Inner Mongolia were sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for robbery, rape, gambling and bribery. The gang had been active for more than 10 years. (Can you imagine that???)

Gangs, triads and organized crime had been a BIG PROBELM in many Chinese cities,
with some senior officials offering a “protective umbrella.” In cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other major cities, collusion had been prevailing between corrupted officals and triads for the set-up of illegal businesses and extorting money.

There is this ACTUALLY pretty INFORMATIVE article (even though a bit OUT-DATED with update upto 2011 only) about EVERYTHING you need to learn about gangs, triads and organized crime in China by Jeffery Hays which will give you MORE INSIGHTS into the situation.

thanks pry. very informative. also, i feel honored to be on the receiving end of one of your famous "rolleyes." i will cherish this moment forever.

what about singapore? i know they are very strict, very orderly, very law abiding, but i know they have had race riots in the past. yet they were able to mostly eradicate their "secret societies" according to this that i just googled for myself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_societies_in_Singapore

now, this is very different from american gangs. are we stuck with gangs in america forever and ever?

there's nothing in this murder related to gangs. but if you want to know more about gangs, Dr Moranus has several movies he can recommend for you to get an informed, scholarly overview including:

- Boyz in the Hood

- Colors

- West Side Story

- Gangs of New York

get on netflicks and start watching then you can submit a report. and then we'll ***** that you are posting about things on a internet forum.

see that's the magic of Dr Moranus. just having him around makes guys like Rocket feel better about themselves for not being Dr Moranus

there's been a lot including release of their identities and a bounty offered for information on the shootings

their names were Ming Qu and Ying Wu, both grad students in electrical engineering, both aged 23.

police have declared they are acting "aggressively" to solve the murders. they have no leads at this time

Well, it was a tradegy.

According to what was reported here in China:

http://news.hexun.com/2012-04-13/140372755.html?from=rss

  • Qu Ming is from Jilin, while Wu Ying is from Hunan. Both were not 富二代 i.e. second generation descendents from the filthy rich.

  • They were lovers. Both were outstanding students, top 5 percentile of the class; Qu Ming had been #1 in the class since primary schools back in China.

  • Wu Ying (living with another girl ) and Qu Ming both lived off campus, as in USC, only freshmen can live in dormitory. They often spent long hours studying in library before Qu Ming drove Wu Ying home, which is very close to Raymond Avenue.

  • Qu Ming supposedly would be having his 24th birthday on April 12th. That could be possibly why they were chatting on their car in the wee hours of April 11 about going out celebrating together with other friends on the night of April 12th.

  • It is their last year in the graduate school; Qu Ming had bought the second hand BMW at US$ 10K so as to be convenient in his job search.

  • Qu Ming recently got an offer back in China, and he had already booked tickets to go back home in 3 weeks' time.
VERY TRAGIC STORY INDEED !!!
