| Yeahh I hear what you're saying Pry. I'm just saying that I'm doubtful that China tanked when their position was set, while US gave it their all. Perhaps the outcome would have been different had both teams put in their full efforts. |

No matter how you look at it, China was gonna expectedly be destroyed by the US even had they given their all. This game with USA was the LAST GAME of the preliminary group, with the placements/ranking ALL DETERMINED. L-A-M-E

then again, that's just too nuanced for you |

I'd have to disagree with that as well. Injury itself is situational. We see a lot of injuries happen because players overextend or force themselves too far (i.e. Rose blowing his knee).
And that's not what Pry was saying. He was pointing out that the Chinese team was limiting the minutes of their key players simply because this game was not important. Imo, it was also because they knew they couldnt win the game, were being crushed, and there was no point of keeping their key players on so they subbed them off. |

WHICH PART OF WHAT I wrote you don't FVCKING understand, Douchebag ??
Before China played USA, which was the LAST game of the day, ALL the preliminary games of Group A had been completed.
USA 4W 0L
Australia 4W 1L
China 3W 1L
Czech Republic 2W 3L
France 1W 4L
Egypt 0W 5L
There was NO WAY that either Czech Republic or France could catch up with China.
And there is ALSO NO WAY that China can move up the ranking, as they had lost 37 points to Australia, and Australia had lost 22 points to USA. In order to be able to move up the ranking, China will have to beat USA by 50 ~ 60 points in order to end up 4W 1L as Australia and USA and forced a tiebreaker. And to beat USA by 50 ~ 60 points was VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE.
SO WHY WASTE THAT ENERGY and burn the key players out TOO SOON with only 1 day's rest before the quarter final with Spain??? |

| I'm not even sure what Dr. No's contending here. This just sounds like arguing for the sake of arguing. Why is it lame? It seems to be a fact that China basically limited their key players and had no chance either way. |

YEAH.... the douchebag is ALWAYS like this.
All I posted were FACTS
- The game versus USA was the last game of the preliminary of Group A that started at night around 20:30 pm.
- All the ranking/palcements of Group A and Group B were determined prior to the game was played.
- China had already secured #3 in Group A with VIRTUALLY NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER to move up the rankings UNLESS they can beat USA by 50 ~ 60 points, which is VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE.
- All the teams were given 1 day's rest on July 5 before the quarter final commence. And the last game of Spain (China's opponent in the quarter final) was in the morning of July 4, and China's last game with USA was the last game at night at 20:30 pm, that meant Spain will have at least 8 ~ 12 more hours of rest over that China.
So rather than to tire and burn out their 2 key star players, the coaching staff of China just played them sparingly for less than 20 minutes, and let the bench players compete.
WHY WAS THAT LAME?? WHY WAS THAT SO DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND?? |

China U17 just REGRETABLY lost 57 ~ 64 to Spain in the quarter final of the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship.
It was a thriller from start to finish, and the China U17 lads gave their all in the quarter final as they hope they can create history in getting into Top 4 of any international basketball tournaments.
They had an early lead in 1Q, and then a 5 point lead (31 ~ 26) by half time.
But then the Spaniards played a great 3Q to lead insteads 2 points (43 ~ 41) into 4Q.
It was a see-saw game in early 4Q with both teams exchanging lead, but gradually after the 6 minute mark, the China U17 starters, having logged heavy minutes, started to falter and run out of gas. Spain eventually stretched the lead and put the game beyond China's reach.
But in any case, these China U117 lads can walk away with their heads up, as they had given their all, and almost toppled the Spaniards !! |

Zhou Qi had an AWESOME game.
He was pitched against Ilimane Diop, who could be his future nemisis. The 6-ft 10 Ilimane Diop has a frightening wingspan of 7ft 9.
And this quarter final between China and Spain was BAISCALLY like a one-on-one duel between Zhou Qi and Ilimane Diop, except that the Chinese guards had difficulty passing the ball to Zhou Qi, as Zhou Qi was double-teamed most of the game.
Zhou Qi in certain sense won the 1-on-1. He scored 20 points (8/14 FG% 4/4 FT%), 15 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 block shots in 36:30 minutes of action with an efficiency rating of 31. He got blocked 2 times and had 3 turnovers.
Ilimane Diop also scored a double-double of 26 points (10/21 FG% 0/1 3-pointer% 6/6 FT%), 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 block shots in 33:44 minutes of action with an efficiency rating of 25. He got blocked once and had 4 turnovers.
The 2 kids BASICALLY NEUTRALIZED each other out.
Only 2 other Chinese players were in double-digit scores; Zhao Jiwei did not play as brilliant as previous games; he scored 16 points (4/12 FG% 3/7 3-pointer% 5/6 FT%), 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals but 5 turnovers.
Han Delong scored 10 points (3/8 FG% 2/6 3-pointer% 2/2 FT%), 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
China were outscored and out-rebounded by the Spaniards; they were 33% FG% 29% 3-pointer% 92% FT% compared to Spaniards' 40% FG% 33% 3-pointer% 67% FT%, and 30 rebounds vs 40 rebounds by the Spaniards.
Now the China U17 lads will have to compete in the placement rounds for position #5 ~ #8. They still have a chance to create history by reaching either #5 or #6 of this Championship.
